Packed up and ready to head back West. Thanks for everything 3rd Ward! I had a great time.

Packed up and ready to head back West. Thanks for everything 3rd Ward! I had a great time.
Who needs a brown bag, when you’ve got a camouflage beer? I bought a 30-pack of these in Pennsylvania. Special edition Busch beer, just in time for deer season.

Come join me at 3rd Ward on Thursday, Friday or Saturday from 2pm to 6pm, this week or next (October 14-16, 21-23). I’ll be tending bar in my Honky Tonk installation and giving out free Busch Beer. I’ve got some peanuts too.

If you end up drinking too much, you’re welcome to stay the night at my Homestead. It’s right next door to the bar.

Opening night was awesome! We worked right up to the last minute getting things finished, then popped open some cold Busch Beer and enjoyed the night.
Thank you to everyone who came out to help me celebrate! Thanks to Justin Martin and Christina Fenner for all your hard work and assistance! Thanks to the 3rd Ward and their amazing staff! And, most importantly, thanks to Monica, Porter, Joey and Ramona for all your support and for making the trip out here from Washington state to be by my side!
It’s been a very busy week, but so far, so good. 3rd Ward has provided me with two interns (Christina Fenner & Justin Martin) that have been an incredible help with the installation process. Seriously, I don’t know how I would have done this without them. There’s still a huge amount of work to be done tomorrow. First thing in the morning, we’ll pull the bear out of his crate, then we’ve got several things to finish up in the Honky Tonk and Homestead installations.
In less than twenty-four hours, we’ll be partying it up at the opening reception!

The stretch between Minneapolis and Brooklyn was full of gnarly roadwork, heavy city traffic, and a bit of rain. Luckily, my friend Djordje joined me in Minneapolis and has been a huge help with the driving. We finally rolled into Brooklyn at 3pm today and got the truck unloaded. Djordje will be catching a plane back to Minneapolis at 5am Monday morning. A few hours after that, I’ll be starting the installation at 3rd Ward.

Stopped at Cracker Barrel last night somewhere in the middle of Pennsylvania for some fried chicken livers, mashed potatoes, and turnip greens. Delicious. Stayed the night in Tannersville, and should be in Brooklyn in time for lunch.
Drove into Minneapolis in the middle of rush hour traffic and parallel parked the truck and trailer. I’ll be staying here tonight with my friends Djordje and Priya. Um, that’s right, I parallel parked a Uhaul truck and trailer.
For lack of any decent radio stations in North Dakota, the iPod was working overtime today. The playlist included:
I’m only a day behind schedule. As my friend Howard put it, “So, you’re pretty much on time, then.” Lucky for me, the top of Idaho is a skinny little bastard. This means that in just seven hours, I’ve had my feet in Washington, Idaho and Montana. Tonight, I’m sleeping in Missoula. Tomorrow, there’s a whole bunch of Montana ahead of me. Then the Dakotas. Followed by never ending fields of corn.

Started packing up the truck yesterday and hopefully it’ll be fully loaded by end of today. Lots of nails to pull from the scrap lumber I’ll be bringing out to New York.

The weather was absolutely perfect today. It’s probably the last I’ll see of the garden, as I suspect the first frost will hit before I return at the end of October.
Monica picked nearly a bushel of tomatoes yesterday, and there’s at least half-a-million green ones still on the vines (or so it seems). Since she and our son Porter will be joining me in New York on October 5th, we’ll have to turn picking duties over to our neighbors Natalie and Tanner.

Here are the exhibition details on the 3rd Ward website. Hope to see y’all at the opening reception on October 8, 2010.
